5 Health Benefits Of This Keto Butter Mousse

#1. It’s Energizing

The special fats in the nut butter can help put and keep you in ketosis by elevating your blood ketone levels.

MCTs (medium chain triglycerides) are a type of saturated fatty acid that can be quickly digested and used for fuel. They’re one of the most bioavailable forms of energy, don’t get stored as fat and research finds they can seriously boost your blood ketones.

Macadamia nuts pack a serious fat punch. Literally. Ringing in at 75% fat, one ounce of macadamia nuts contain 21.2 grams of fat and just 1.6 grams net carbs.

Cashews consist of approximately 46% fat, around 12.4 grams per serving[*].

#2. It’s Heart Healthy

Eating nuts on a regular basis has been shown to reduce the risk of developing cardiovascular disease[*].

MCTs also keep your ticker healthy by regulating blood triglycerides and reducing LDL (harmful) cholesterol.

#3. Protects Brain Function

Macadamia nuts are rich in palmitoleic acid, a fatty acid that is a major component of myelin — the protective coating around your neurons. That’s why palmitoleic acid is so important for brain development in babies and for long term brain health[*].

Cashews contain copper, zinc, and iron — all vital nutrients for optimal brain function. By boosting ketone production, MCTs also help give your brain a cleaner and more efficient fuel.

#4. Lowers Inflammation

Macadamia nuts help fight chronic inflammation — the root cause of most diseases. Cashews also help reduce inflammation by lowering the circulation of inflammatory biomarkers[*].

In one study, people who ate nuts eight or more times a week showed the highest reduction in inflammatory biomarkers[*].

#5. It’s Antibacterial

Coconut butter, like MCT oil, contains lauric acid, which is antiviral, antibacterial, and antifungal. This type of fatty acid can help kill harmful microorganisms and prevent the overgrowth of bad bacteria in your gut.

Don’t get coconut butter confused with coconut oil because there’s quite a difference between the two. Coconut oil is made by removing the oil from the meat of the coconut and coconut butter is made with the coconut meat, turning it into a deliciously smooth butter.
